Rivar's philosophy is to pursue continual improvement of its environmental performance and where appropriate achieve closer integration with waste process management, product quality and health and safety activities. The company believes that active consideration of the impacts of construction projects can deliver benefits to the environment, society and the economy.

Rivar's property developments, where possible, endeavour to reflect the local surroundings and environment. Conservation stewardship is part of the company's ongoing land management. In response to the challenge of climate change, it is progressively embracing energy conservation measures and sustainable urban drainage.

Rivar has extensive experience of designing development schemes to minimise the environmental and ecological impact. The company has a long-term track record of successful measures to minimise and mitigate adverse impacts on protected species.

It has, for example, designed buildings with special facilities to accommodate bats and doves, and provided enhanced habitats for great crested newts and badgers. The conservation and planting of flora connected with its developments has resulted in a high level of tree planting.

Corporate Responsibility
Rivar Ltd plays an active part in the community, through supporting sports clubs and good causes. The company owns and is responsible for a system of 18th century lakes laid out by Capability Brown as part of the historic former Sandleford Priory, near Newbury. On land owned near Newbury Racecourse, restoration proposals require the planting of wild flowers, creation of reed beds and provision of a bird watching hide.
